Responsibilities:

Stats Perform is the market leader in sports tech. We provide the richest and most trusted sports data available and are at the forefront of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning to turn this data into something magic.

We combine our extensive back-catalogue of data with AI to deliver insights, predictions and super-fast data to a variety of clients: top-flight teams, betting companies, broadcasters, media outlets, and more. The sheer amount of data we have, combined with the latest AI models, mean that we can make products that no other company can.

In this role you’ll be a part of the Machine Learning Modelling team, a dynamic, international team which works on solving complex problems by creating cutting edge models based on unique data sets. This team is responsible for finding solutions to all kinds of complex sports problems, through the use of AI and Machine Learning.

What you’ll do - 

• Researching, developing, and implementing innovative machine learning techniques using Stats Perform’s wealth of sports data, across various sports such as soccer and tennis.
• Productizing your models alongside engineers and product teams, in a quick and efficient way.
• Presenting your solutions to other internal teams, broadening AI proficiency in the company.
• Identify new AI solutions for emerging problems, create requirements and propose a roadmap for delivering the project.
• Support, train and mentor team members on best machine learning implementation practices.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics or related STEM fields. 
• 2+ years of experience working as a data scientist (or similar role).
• Proficiency of Python and some experience using SQL, alongside using common ML/AI packages (TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, etc.). 
• Familiarity with statistical (e.g. GLM, GAMs) and deep learning techniques (e.g. neural networks, transformers, diffusion models, etc.).
• Some knowledge of cloud infrastructure such as AWS or Google Cloud. At Stats Perform you will be co-responsible for ensuring the models you have created are performing in a real-world environment.
• An avid interest in sports, in particular soccer and tennis. Knowledge of the sports analytics landscape and latest research. We want to stay on top of the latest research in the sports world and apply the latest techniques in our projects.
• A bonus: experience with sports event and/or tracking data
• Fluency in English; excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams, and both internal and external stakeholders.
