In role as Data Engineer, you will design, build and optimize the data infrastructure that powers Vaillant Group’s digital and analytical capabilities. You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts and cross‑functional teams to create scalable data solutions that unlock insights for meaningful business decisions. With your expertise, you will help shape robust data products, contribute to a modern data ecosystem and play a vital role in advancing our digital transformation.
- You work alongside data scientists and fellow engineers on advanced analytics for IoT, industrial IoT, business process and customer data — directly contributing to Vaillant Group’s mission of creating a better climate for our customers and the planet.
- Your responsibilities include designing, building and maintaining infrastructure for extracting, transforming, loading and serving large data volumes from diverse sources using cloud technologies, Spark frameworks and DataOps practices.
- After analyzing stakeholder needs, you support the development, maintenance and automation of data products that enhance our digital service portfolio.
- By understanding Vaillant’s data model, you provide guidance on efficient data modelling and advise users on the most effective ways to structure and analyze datasets.
- Together with interdisciplinary teams, you actively participate in data governance, security and compliance initiatives to ensure reliable and trustworthy data solutions.
- Through clear communication and collaboration with product owners and Data Relationship Managers, you keep stakeholders aligned and contribute to transparent progress throughout the development lifecycle.
What makes us successful together
- Qualification: You hold a university degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field with a focus on Data Science or Data/ML Engineering.
- Experience: You bring at least 3 years of experience in data analytics, ideally within a Big Data context, and are confident in working in interdisciplinary environments.
- Know‑how and skills: You are proficient in Python and SQL and ideally possess additional programming skills in Java or Scala, with strong familiarity with developer tools and Spark-based technologies. You have experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Databricks and understand their components for data processing and storage. You contribute to data quality by implementing validation and cleansing processes and supporting efficient data engineering workflows.
- Nice to have: Knowledge of frameworks such as Kafka, experience with advanced cloud components or deeper expertise in DataOps practices are desirable additions.
- Personality: You are proactive, analytical and structured, with a strong ability to solve complex data challenges and present insights clearly to diverse audiences. You thrive in agile, collaborative environments, bring curiosity and initiative and continuously expand your knowledge to evolve as a Data Engineer.
- Language skills: You speak fluent English (minimum B2 level), while German language skills are considered a plus.
