We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Data Improvement Officer to join the Data Office on a temporary basis until 4th April 2026.

Key responsibilities:

  • Identify the behaviours we need to change to mitigate data risk and how we need to develop awareness, communications and training for optimising data
  • Ensure that our awareness program communicates our policies and requirements so that people know, understand and can follow them. 
  • Create a positive program that engages employees, focusing on changing behaviours both at home and at work.
  • Research users and understand their data needs.
  • Create a metrics framework that can effectively measure these requirements.
  • Design appropriate training plans and effectively deliver training.
  • Ability to form complex ‘communications / messages’ in a simple, clear and concise manner to the various audiences within our organisation.
  • Project management experience, the ability to plan, manage and maintain a complex, organisation wide program over the longer term.
  • Understanding of the concepts of information risks and the different elements that make up that risk.
  • Ensure that our data training/awareness/communications program meets all legislative, regulatory, APP, standards, and compliance requirements.

Skills and experience:

  • Training Qualification – Level 4 PTLLS or equivalent
  • Proven experience of effective Marketing, Communication and Engagement
  • Experience/Knowledge of Data Protection/Information Governance/Risk Management

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
