The Role...

The Database Engineering Team at FanDuel is responsible for the performance, reliability and installation of all NoSQL and traditional SQL databases.  The team is globally located with members in New York, Great Britain and Atlanta.

 We are currently seeking to add a Senior Database Engineer to our team with expertise in Elasticsearch to contribute to the design, optimization and scaling of our infrastructure.

What You'll be Doing...

• Design and implement scalable Elasticsearch clusters to support high-traffic, data-intensive applications.

• Develop and maintain indexing strategies, mappings, and search schemas that optimize performance.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune Elasticsearch performance, including query optimization, shard management, and cluster scaling
• Automate deployments and management. (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).                 
• Ensure data security and compliance by managing access control, encryption, and data retention policies.
• Collaborate with Application, DevOps and Networking teams
• Evaluate and implement new technologies and best practices to enhance data reliability and scalability.
• Knowledge share with other team members and contribute to overall data platform architecture strategy

We hope you have…

• Experience with Elasticsearch 7.17.x and 8.14.x
• Background in AWS technologies: EC2 instance types, Storage Options, aws-cli, Route 53
• Knowledge of AWS outposts desirable
• Detailed knowledge of Linux Operating System; Tuning of databases as affected by storage, memory and network configuration.
• Desirable to have proficiency in at least one other datastore: Cassandra, MySQL, Postgres
• Ability to define and implement replication and redundancy policies.
• Scripting and Automation skills:  Python, Bash
